Introduction
The Walworth-Seely
Public Library was selected to participate in a Library and Services
Technology Act (LSTA) Grant, ANTICIPATING LIBRARY SERVICE NEEDS IN THE
21ST CENTURY: ENVISIONING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE, which was
administered by the Pioneer Library System. Patricia Stocker, former
Assistant Director of the Pioneer Library System, was the consultant for
the grant. The NEW PLANNING FOR RESULTS by Sandra Nelson was used as
the model for the planning process.
The Walworth-Seely
Public Library Community Advisory Planning Committee was formed to work
with Patricia to develop this plan. The committee represented people
from all segments of the community. They are:

Mission
The Walworth-Seely
Public Library will provide cultural, educational, recreational
activities and programs for people of all ages. The library will
provide excellent library services that will ensure the following:

Goals related to Commons Service Response
Goal 1:
Patrons of the Walworth-Seely Public Library will have access to public
space to pursue their educational, recreational and social needs.
Programs, services and display space will invite conversation and
discussion among community members, making the library the center of
public discourse.
Goal 2:
Traditional and innovative Services for Young Adults (youth grades 6-12)
will be offered.
Goals related to Life-Long Learning Service Response
Goal 1:
Patrons who use the Walworth-Seely Public Library will have access to
current and popular materials in all formats that stimulate their
thinking, satisfy their curiosities, expand their knowledge of
contemporary culture and society, and make their leisure time more
productive and enjoyable.
Goal 2:
The Walworth-Seely Public Library
will offer programs and services that address topics of current interest
both in the community and society at large.
Goals related to Current Topics and Titles Service Response
Goal 1:
Adults who use the Walworth-Seely Public Library will have the
information, resources, and assistance they need for personal
independent learning.
Goal 2:
Youth who use the Walworth-Seely Public Library will develop a life-long
love of learning.
Goal 3.
Library patrons will have access to space that facilitates a variety of
activities that meet the needs of the community.
